The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) held its 2019 Annual Technical Forum (ATF) at Holiday Inn Hotel, Baguio City on November 18-19, 2019, hosted by MGB-Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) with the assistance of the Mining Technology Division, MGB-Central Office (CO).

The theme for this year’s ATF is “Mining and Geosciences: #MineResponsibility”. A total of fifteen papers composed of four (4) policy papers and 11 (eleven) technical papers were presented on the ATF.

Judges for the forum were composed of Mr. Octabio B. Cuanso, retired Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO), Engr. Constancio A. Paye, Jr., retired MGB Region Office (RO) No. XII Regional Director; Engr. Ludwig John Pascual of Pilipinas MetDev Inc.; Dr. Dymphna Nolasco-Javier, Dean of College of Science, UP-Baguio; and Clarence DL Baguilat, retired DENR Regional Executive Director, who chaired the panel.

Best Policy Paper

1. First Place: “Measuring Customer Satisfaction Project FACE (Feedback and Assessment on Customer Experience): MGB XI’s Electronic Customer Satisfaction Survey” by Mr. Allen C. Cameros of MGB RO No. XI

2. Second Place: ““The Benefits and Challenges in the Implementation of Online Monitoring of Performance Rating System Using Checklists and Scorecard” by Engr. John Mikel Ansao by MGB RO No. XII

3. Third Place: The Benefits and Challenges in the Implementation of Online Monitoring of Performance Rating System Using Checklists and Scorecard” by Mr. Leo Virtucio of MGB-CO

Best Technical Paper:

1. First Place: Karst Subsidence Hazard Assessment in the Municipality of Opol in the Province of Misamis Oriental by Ms. Daphne Niccole Galero of MGB RO No. X
2. Second Place: Ädapting a Proactive, Risk-based Approach in Mitigating Landslide Risk along Philippine Roadways by Mr. Marcius Isip of MGB Central Office (CO)
3. Third Place: Pilot Scale production of Nickel Pig Iron Using Low Grade Laterite Ores” by Mr. Bernardo V. Bitanga of MGB-CO

Best Presenter:

1. Ms. Daphne Niccole Galero of MGB RO No. X
The 2020 ATF will be hosted by, MGB RO No. VII with the assistance of MGB CO’s ,Mineral Economics Information and Publication Division.
