On December 12, 2019, the Philippines officially passed the honor of hosting the 19th ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Minerals (ASOMM) Working Group Meetings to ASEAN member country, Thailand, during the recently concluded ASEAN nations' annual conference for mining in Bangkok, Thailand.
Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Acting Director Atty. Wilfredo G. Moncano expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the delegates of the Member Countries for their effort and contribution in promoting the cause of ASOMM during his speech in Thailand.
Also in attendance on behalf of the Philippines' mining sector were the MGB Acting Director, MGB Assistant Director Danilo U. Uykieng, and MGB's Mineral Economics, Information, and Publication Division OIC-Chief Ms. Liz Cherry D. Solijon.
The ASOMM Working Group is responsible for the supervision, coordination, and implementation of the ASEAN Minerals Cooperation Action Plan Phase III (AMCAP-III) with the aim of fulfilling its underlying tasks by the year 2025.
