The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) personnel attended the screening in support of the movie, "Mia" – a romantic comedy film about an alcoholic physician named Mia Salazar, portrayed by Coleen Garcia, and a dorky forester named Jay Policarpio, portrayed by Edgar Allan Guzman.

The story revolves around Mia's journey to healing after her fiancé tragically died just after proposing to her. While dealing with her loss, she stumbles upon Jay whose love eventually healed her.

The movie was set in Bataraza, Palawan, where Mia worked for the Doctor To The Barrios program, while Jay works at the Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation Inc., a mining company.

It has been an interest for MGB to witness the movie as it tackles the topic of reforestation programs set by mining companies after mining operations are complete. This subject has been used as a reflection on the main character's journey: from the tragedy of loss to her regained peace and happiness through the help of Jay.

The movie brought a glimpse of how mining companies carry out their responsibilities to affected communities by implementing rehabilitation programs that will benefit both the people and the environment.

Some MGB personnel were also in attendance on the premiere of the movie last January 15, 2020, in Robinsons Magnolia, New Manila.

'Mia' is directed by Veronica Velasco and produced by Viva Films and Insight36.
