In an effort to curb the continuous increase of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, the Procurement Service of the Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) has included medical supplies among other essential items (such as disposable head and shoe covers, surgical masks, gloves, and tissue paper) in the updated list of Common-Use Supplies and Equipment. This is in accordance with the issuance of the Government Procurement Policy Board Resolution No. 03-2020, which approved the adoption of efficient, effective and expedient procurement procedures during a state of public health emergency.

Last April 24, 2020, PS-DBM turned over a total of 2000 pieces of surgical masks to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB). These surgical masks will be distributed to MGB’s skeletal force as well as serve as preparation for work resumption, ensuring proper observance of protocol amidst the pandemic.
