The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) conducted a virtual orientation, known as MGB 101, to certain personnel of the Biodiversity Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) on June 18, 2020 via Zoom. The said activity was attended by almost forty (40) technical personnel from MGB and BMB.
It was also graced by For. Ricardo L. Calderon, CESO III, OIC, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Climate Change and BMB Director, in concurrent capacity and Atty. Wilfredo G. Moncano, Acting Director, MGB.
The virtual orientation aims to enlighten certain BMB personnel on the processes and activities involved in different stages of mining operations as well as to provide additional information in the improvement of the draft DENR Administrative Order (DAO) re: Enhancing Biodiversity Protection and Conservation in Mining Operations.

The conduct of MGB 101 marked the commitment of MGB and BMB to work harmoniously in drafting DAO that focuses on the integration of biodiversity management and responsible mining. Specifically, the draft DAO will stipulate guidelines in the rehabilitation of mined out areas towards restoration of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
