After the Mines and Geosciences Regional Office No. 7 (MGB RO7) found cracks considered to be highly susceptible to landslides, they have recommended the residents living in Sitio Sadayong, Brgy. Balirong, Naga City, Cebu to evacuate the area in early November. The decision was made after the investigations on the cracks were done in October 2020.
An aggregate length of around 200 meters was noted from the investigations conducted by MGB RO7. The cracks had a depth of 60 inches and it follows a general east-southeast direction with a maximum vertical displacement of 30 centimeters.
Naga City has offered to demolish the houses so they can still use whatever materials they can to rebuild their new home in a safer area and to provide them with transportation in the transfer of their belongings.
City Administrator Arthur Villamor said 10 of the 25 households in Sitio Sandayong have signified interest to transfer residence. At the time, at least three households had already relocated. Villamor said the City Government will provide the Sandayong residents with financial assistance.
