The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), represented by a selection of six singing employees, recently won the grand prize award of the “Your Song Sounds Familiar” singing contest during the celebration of the 28th anniversary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

The MGB singing group bested nine other contestants coming from the different bureaus and attached agencies of the DENR during the event replicated from the famed singing contest “Your Face Sounds Familiar” launched by the ABS-CBN.

The members of the singing group selected from the MGB Chorale were composed of Leopoldo T. Virtucio, Raymond Thaddeus C. Ancog, Roy Aurelio M. Metin, John Emmanuel P. Pulmones, Mary Preseed Grace B. Acayang, Princess Danielle B. Matas and Genalyn T. Ortega.

Under the tutelage of Ms. Agnes V. Lapresca, the group imitated the “Ryan Cayabyab Singers” in performing the hit song “PARAISO,” one of the best-selling albums in the early 1990s that tackles environmental issues.

The group brought home a Certificate and PhP15,000 as prizes for the event held last June 10, 2015 at the DENR Social Hall.

This is the second time that the MGB won in the competition as part of the DENR Anniversary Celebration – the first one was in 2013 where MGB prevailed over other groups in the dance competition.
