The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) administered the 2020 Fourth Quarter Management Conference last December 1-4, 2020. This is in line with the interest of the service and in order to ensure accomplishments of Calendar Year (CY) 2020 targets as well as the fulfillment of priority thrusts and programs for CY 2021.

Observing safety protocols, the event was a combination of both virtual and face-to-face sessions, with accommodations provided for the Regional Directors (RDs) that are physically present to the session, while the other attendees participated virtually.

MGB Director Atty. Wilfredo G. Moncano delivered the welcome remarks to the event. Ms. Nonita S. Cagiuoa, Assistant Secretary for Finance, Information Systems and Mining Concerns, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Mr. Jim O. Sampulna, CESO III, Undersecretary for Enforcement, Mining and Muslim Affairs, DENR, both gave messages for those engaging in the conference.

RDs and Division Chiefs (DCs) discussed updates on recent activities/investigations conducted in Bicol, Marikina, Cagayan, and Marinduque after the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses, as well as the assistance received from mining companies using the Social Development and Management Program funds.

A presentation of MGB’s Accomplishments and Corresponding Fund Utilization as of October 2020 was discussed, with the RDs and DCs ready to provide updates for November 2020 along with a Catch-up Plan. A walkthrough of Priority Programs for CY 2021 and a review of priority areas/targets followed afterward.

The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Committee gave a talk on ARTA enrolled/updated processes on their end. An Awarding of Best Regional Director for CY 2019 was held towards the end of the conference. MGB Assistant Director Atty. Danilo U. Uykieng formally ended the event with his closing remarks.
