In celebration of National Chemistry Week, the Integrated Chemists of the Philippines (ICP) hosted a webinar last 16-17 February 2021 with the topic - “Basic Training on Laboratory Instruments and Techniques”.  Personnel from Metallurgical Technology Division of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau-Central office attended this online seminar.

The webinar was a 2-day online training wherein all the participants were provided the basic theories and principles on how laboratory instruments function. The discussion focused on maintenance, as well as enhancing the performance of the different type of instruments and equipment used in chemical analysis in the laboratory such as atomic absorption spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma – optical emission spectrometry, x-ray fluorescence, high performance liquid chromatography, analytical balance, pH meters, furnace, oven, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, micropipette and laboratory glassware.

The main agenda of this webinar is not just to celebrate national chemistry week, but also to encourage chemical practitioners to enhance the basic knowledge in laboratory instrumentation and to apply its basic principle in everyday laboratory activities.
