In accordance with the ASEAN Minerals Cooperation Action Plan (AMCAP), the representatives from the Philippine government in-charge of the mining industry attended the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Minerals (ASOMM) Working Group Meetings from March 29-31, 2021, via Zoom platform to discuss matters relating to ASEAN cooperation in minerals.
The meeting on the 5th Joint Working Groups of ASOMM was held on the morning of March 29. It is where all focal points of the different working groups met in plenary to discuss the development of the ASEAN Minerals Cooperation Action Plan of ASOMM.
Following the plenary meeting, each of the working groups held their own meetings.
March 29 (PM) – meeting of the Working Group on Trade and Investments on Minerals presided by the working group chair and Philippine official representative, Ms. Liz Cherry A. Solijon, OIC-Chief of Mineral Information and Publication Division, MGB.
March 30 (AM) – meeting of the Working Group on Sustainable Minerals Development attended by the Philippine official representative, Engr. Marcial M. Mateo, OIC-Chief of Mine Safety, Environment and Sustainable Development Division, MGB.
March 30 (PM) - meeting of the Working Group on Capacity Building on attended by Philippine official representative, Dr. Maybellyn Zepeda, OIC-Chief of the Land Geological Survey Division, MGB.
March 31 (AM) – meeting of the Working Group on Minerals Information Database was attended by representative, Ms. Liz Cherry A. Solijon, OIC-Chief of Mineral Information and Publication Division, MGB as alternate to the official representative, Regional Director Glenn Marcelo C. Noble who was attending an equally important matter at the time of the meeting. The zero draft program areas for each working groups were discussed comprehensively in the meeting.
A second meeting of the working groups will be set on the last week of June 2021. It shall be the 19th meeting of all ASOMM working groups.
