Through the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Special Order no. 2021-36 45 MGB personnel from the different divisions participated in the virtual training on Basic Occupational Safety and Health Standards (BOSH), held from April 12 to 16, 2021 via Zoom application.

The said training program is required pursuant to the provisions of Joint Memorandum Circular No. 1, series of 2020 of the Civil Service Commission, Department of Health, and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Re: Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards for the Public Sector.

Participation to the said training makes MGB compliant to the government requirement and will instill knowledge and skills to participants on the basic concepts, principles, and some skills on OSH applicable to the work environment.

The five-day course covered the BOSH Standards introduction, concepts, and principles, identification of workplace hazards, and creation of OSH program plan. According to DOLE, BOSH is regarded as a need in the work environment to ensure safe and healthful employment.

The training provider conducted a forty-hour training program with soft copy provisions of presentation materials, handouts, directory of participants, and printing of certificates.
