MGB director slammed over black sand pronouncements by Jojo Riñoza July 5, 2015 Share 0 Tweet 1 Share 0 Email 0 Share 5 Lingayen, Pangasinan — The Provincial Legal Officer here has slammed the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for alleged inconsistencies in its statements regarding the piles of black sand in this capital town. Lawyer Geraldine Baniqued, in her letter to MGB Regional Director Carlos Tayag last July 2, stated that “seemingly inconsistent statements made over the issue of black sand mining appears to undermine the integrity of PMRB (Provincial Mining Regulatory Board), as well as the national agency that you represent, considering that your good office previously made statements affirming the fact that there was no mining activity in the golf course area.”
