The Department of Environment and Natural resources (DENR) recently donated marble stockpile of 257 blocks with a total volume of about 1,220 cubic meters to the Province of Bulacan following the request of the Provincial Governor.
The marble stockpile comes from the cancelled Mineral Production Sharing Agreement of (MPSA) of Rosemoor Mining and Development Corporation covering 330.3062-hectares in Biak na Bato, Doña Remedios, Trinidad, Bulacan. The said MPSA (No. 188-2002-III) was cancelled by the DENR on December 28, 2010.
The endowment of the said marble stockpile was done thru a Deed of Donation entered into by and between the DENR and the Local Government Unit of the Province of Bulacan. The said donation was granted as per the directives of the Deputy Executive Secretary for Legal Affairs, Office of the President.
The said donation was subjected to the general condition that the proceeds of the disposition shall be used exclusively for environmental projects and must redound to the benefit of the Province of Bulacan. In addition, the Province of Bulacan shall post a surety bond in the amount to be determined by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau based on the value of the commodity in order to protect the rights of any third party concerned.
