The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) successfully passed the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) Recertification Audit which marks the start of a new cycle of its QMS Implementation. The said Audit was conducted by the auditors from SGS Philippines, Inc., the Bureau’s certifying body, last October 22-23, 2018.
The main objective of the Recertification Audit was to intensively review all aspects of the enrolled processes of MGB and its conformance to the new QMS Standard.
On March 01, 2019, Engr. Rodolfo L. Velasco, Jr., Chief, Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division of the MGB and the Bureau’s Quality Management Representative, officially presented the new ISO 9001:2015 QMS Certificate to the Acting Director, Atty. Wilfredo G. Moncano, and the Acting Assistant Director, Atty. Danilo U. Uykieng. The said certificate is valid until December 08, 2021 and subject to satisfactory surveillance audits.
The ISO 9001:2015 QMS Certification covers the following frontline services of MGB such as: the processing and approval of Exploration Permit applications including renewal; processing and approval of Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program and Final Mine and/or Decommissioning Plan; and Metallurgical and Geological Laboratory Testing Services for mineral industries.
