Director Leo L. Jasareno of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) recently appointed Atty. Wilfredo G. Moncano as the new Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Office of the Regional Director of MGB Regional Office (RO) No. XI pursuant to MGB Special Order No. 2015-53 dated 30 July 2015.

 The designation of Atty. Moncano came after the irrevocable resignation of former Regional Director Edilberto L. Arreza.

Atty. Moncano previously held the position of Senior Science Research Specialist and OIC of the Mine Management Division in MGB RO No. XI. Prior to joining the government service, Atty. Moncano was a practicing mining engineer in the private sector. He has also undergone various trainings and seminars both here and abroad.

Region XI is one of the identified illegal mining hot spots in the country. Atty. Moncano's designation is expected to bring the needed experience in reinforcing the government's campaign against illegal mining in the said region.
