President Rodrigo Roa Duterte recently appointed Atty. Wilfredo G. Moncano as Acting Director IV of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), vice Engr. Leo L. Jasareno.

In his order dated September 28, 2016, the President directed Moncano to perform the duties of the office, subject to compliance with Career Executive Service requirements.

Moncano has taken his oath of office and will, in the meantime, remain as the Regional Director of MGB Region XI.

Prior to his appointment, Moncano was the Officer-in-Charge of MGB Region XI, a post he held since July 30, 2015.

Meanwhile, Engr. Mario Luis J. Jacinto remains as DENR Undersecretary and concurrent MGB Director.

It will be recalled that the President, thru Presidential Directive No. 002, Series of 2016, earlier designated Engr. Mario Luis J. Jacinto as Director of the MGB in a concurrent capacity corollary to his appointment as Undersecretary at the DENR.

Aside from performing the functions as provided in the Philippine Mining Act and all other laws, rules and regulations, Jacinto also shall have the authority and supervision over the organization and operations of the Environmental Management Bureau for the purpose of overseeing the effective and successful implementation of its programs, activities, and projects.
