The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Central Office recently received the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 Certification for Quality Management System (QMS), a demonstration of MGB's commitment to provide excellent service to its stakeholders.

SGS Philippines, Inc., one of the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification companies, issued the Certification.

ISO 9001:2008 Certification provides the framework and set of principles for QMS to facilitate the agency's delivery of services and enhance satisfaction of its stakeholders.

The following frontline services are covered by the ISO 9001:2008 Certification: 1) Processing and Approval of Exploration Permit Applications; 2) Processing and Approval of Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program, and Final Mine Rehabilitation and/or Decommissioning Plan; 3) Geological Laboratory Services; and 4) Metallurgical Laboratory Services.

Director Leo L. Jasareno of the MGB, together with Engr. Rodolfo L. Velasco, Jr., MGB Quality Management Representative, and the QMS Team received the Certificate from SGS Philippines, Inc. representatives.

Director Jasareno extended his gratitude to the MGB Staff, the QMS Team, and all personnel, who worked hard to achieve this milestone.

The awarding was held last February 15 during the flag raising ceremony at the MGB Compound in North Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City.
