The Administrative Division of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) recently conducted a New Employees Orientation for newly appointed employees and personnel hired under Contract of Service with Civil Service eligibility.

The orientation’s main objectives were to: (1) introduce the MGB organization, its vision and mission, mandates, organizational structure, policy directions, and plans and program; (2) help new employees understand the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Policies, and DENR and MGB rules and regulations; (3) make them aware of the benefits and compensation; and (4) help them understand their commitment, job performance and management expectation.

In his speech, MGB Acting Assistant Director Atty. Danilo U. Uykieng emphasized that the school is far different from the office and that there are things that can be done in school but can no longer be done in the office. Hence, as government employees, there is a high expectation from them. Uykieng added that they should also strive to learn new things every day, to use these as tools in performing their tasks, and that whatever they learn from the orientation should be used throughout their career in the MGB.

Mr. Glenn Marcelo C. Noble, Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of the Planning, Policy and International Affairs Division discussed MGB at a Glance, particularly its Mission, Vision, Mandate, and history, so as to give the new employees a good grasp of the MGB organization.

Ms. Edna R. Lorilla and Mr. Reynaldo P. Fallesgon, Administrative Division Chief and Personnel Section OIC, respectively, discussed the CSC Rules and Policies, including Republic Act No. 6713, also known as the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Government Officials and Employees; Republic Act No. 9485, or the Anti-Red Tape Act; as well as the Revised Rules on Administrative Cases in the Civil Service (RRACCS).

Guest speakers from Pagtutulungan sa Kinabukasan: Ikaw, Bangko, Industria at Gobyerno, and Government Service Insurance System discussed the various services, benefits and programs that government employees may avail of.

Lastly, representatives of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employees Association, and Mines Central Employees Multipurpose Cooperative also made their respective presentations.

The orientation was held from May 30-31, 2018 at the Verjandel Hotel in Kalayaan Ave., Diliman, Quezon City.
