The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) has been awarded recently by the Philippine Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (PH-EITI) for "promoting full disclosure policy of PH-EITI and even going beyond the EITI standard."

The EITI is a global standard ensuring transparency of revenues from natural resources. It is a multi-stakeholder initiative led by the government, industry and civil society representatives.

The EITI provides a platform to systematically report on, review, and assess what is being paid by companies and received by governments through a system of bilateral disclosures.

As a member of the Multi-Stakeholder Group, which is the governing body for EITI implementation in the country, the MGB has lent its full support to the cause of PH-EITI by providing all the relevant information pertaining to mining companies in the country that are covered by the PH-EITI.

The award was received by Engr. Juancho Pablo C. Calvez, MGB Chief Metallurgist, and Engr. Romualdo D. Aguilos, Office-In-Charge Chief, Mineral Economics Information and Publications Division of the MGB, on behalf of Engr. Leo L. Jasareno, MGB Director.

The award was given during PH EITI's 2016 National Conference held last February 16 at the Manila Hotel.
