The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Ramon J.P. Paje commended Engr. Teodorico A. Sandoval for sweeping the "Best Re-entry Project Award," during the graduation ceremony of Middle Manager's Class Batch 7 – Saluysoy at the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) Conference Center Auditorium in Tagaytay last November 17.

As part of Middle Manager's Class (MMC) program, the Re-entry Project ( ReP) entitled "Early Warning System for Mine Tailings Storage Facilities: Ground Deformation Monitoring using Electronic Distance Measurements," aims to prevent failure of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSF) and to reduce the negative environmental and socio-economic impact in case TSF fails.

Engr. Sandoval has now been tasked to implement the project as part of the regular activities of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau.

The MMC is one of the courses being offered by Public Management Development Program (PMDM). It is administered by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) - the implementing arm of PMDP. The course is taught in five months with working breaks in between. MMC also consists of two phases: the Residential Training Phase and ReP Implementation Phase.

The MMC is designed for "High Performing and High Potential (HPHP)" employees, who include section to division chiefs, junior managers and leaders who hold a permanent employment status and positions, aged 50 years old below, in good health and within the salary grade 18 to 24. Accepted applicants will enjoy a full scholarship grant from the government and will be earning a Masters in Development Management (MDM) degree if they finish the course.

The DENR Secretary also encouraged the MGB to strive, develop and apply technology in promoting sustainable development in the management of natural resources and to continue to support an effective human resources development program to bring out potential talent in the workforce.
