MGB is ready to embark to an open data and web-based Legal Information System (LegIS) that envisions a much improved public service by professionalizing the MGB workforce through the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Aimed at making vital legal-related information available to ordinary people and employees, the system will soon be on-line this year.

The project development and the implementation of the system was approved under Tier 2 for in-house development under the 3-year Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Information Systems Strategic Plan (ISSP) covering the period January 2015 to December 2017.

The system will provide the public with an updated and accurate information on the status and rulings from both the quasi-judicial bodies in the DENR and MGB, i.e., the Panel of Arbitrators and the Mines and Adjudication Board, including regular courts handling mining cases.

The second training workshop for the LegIS was held last April 3-7, 2017, attended by Undersecretary and Concurrent MGB Director, Mario Luis J. Jacinto and Acting MGB Assistant Director, Atty. Danilo U. Uykieng. It was participated by personnel from MGB Regional Offices (Cordillera Administrative Region, Regions I to XIII).
