The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) successfully passed the second surveillance and transition audits for its Quality Management System (QMS) Certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), enabling its continuing validity and transition from ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015.
The audits were conducted by auditors of SGS Philippines, Inc., the certifying body, on December 20, 2017.
The main purpose of the audits is to verify MGB’s compliance with the new management system.
The audits’ objectives were: 1) to determine conformity of the management system, or parts of it, with audit criteria; 2) to recognize its ability to meet applicable statutory, regulatory and contractual requirements; 3) to verify its effectiveness in ensuring that clients can reasonably expect to achieve specified objectives; and 4) to determine the management system’s ability to identify areas for potential improvement.
The QMS Certification covered the services provided by the MGB, particularly the processing and approval of applications for Exploration Permit; Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program; and Final Mine Rehabilitation and/or Decommissioning Plan; as well as the Geological and Metallurgical Laboratory Services.
