The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Internal Quality Auditors and Document Control Team recently attended the remaining International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 training courses needed for the implementation of the new version of Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS).
The training, facilitated by SGS Philippines, Inc., aimed to equip the MGB’s ISO core group with the necessary competencies to properly develop, implement and maintain an effective QMS and EMS for the Bureau.
It also served as preparatory training course for the MGB to complete its EMS certification and QMS re-certification that will be conducted at the last quarter of 2018.
The Implementation Course provided the participants with an overview of the requirements of ISO such as compliance obligations which may include, but are not limited to, legal requirements, customer needs, and internal policies, as well as important documented information to be used in the assessment of the needs and expectations of relevant interested parties.
Specific steps that need to be undertaken by the MGB to successfully attain the ISO 14001:2015 certification and to maintain its ISO 9001:2008 certification were also addressed during the training.
The training was held last January 24 – 26, 2018 at the Metallurgical Technology Division Conference Room, MGB Central Office, Diliman, Quezon City.
