Last February 12, 2019, about 200 participants from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Central and Regional Offices attended the three-day Cum Competency Based System Orientation Workshop at the Royal Mandaya Hotel in Davao City. The said workshop was hosted by Atty. Jasper Lascano, Regional Director (RD) of MGB Regional Office (RO) No. XI. During RD Lascano’s welcome message, he stated it is to be anticipated that MGB will reach their targets in the name of public service. The workshop lasted until February 15, 2019.

After the opening ceremonies on the first day of the event, the Work and Financial Plan (WFP) Review for 2019, as well as activity targets, cash program, and travel and training plan, were discussed. Participants went to Break-out Group Workshops tackling the Closing of Books of Accounts, Preparation of the 2020 Budget Proposal, and Competency Based System Review on the second and third day. On the final day, a presentation of the workshop output was handled during the plenary session in the morning and after the lunch break.

Engineer Nonita S. Caguioa, Assistant Secretary for Mining Concerns of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), gave a short message such as addressing concerns of MGB and giving a budget on the activities. Meanwhile Atty. Analiza R. Teh, Undersecretary for Climate Change and Mining Concerns, DENR, gave some instructions for the MGB 2020 Budget Proposal. During the closing remarks, Atty. Danilo U. Uykieng, Assistant Director, MGB, expressed his appreciation for the presence of DENR’s Usec Teh and Asec Caguioa.
