The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) recently cancelled five Mineral Production Sharing Agreements (MPSA) following violations of several mining policies.
The said MPSAs are as follows:
The above MPSAs were cancelled in view of the following grounds:
a. Failure to renew the Exploration Period for more than eight years, in violation of the pertinent provisions of Section C.3 of DENR Memorandum Order No. 2010-04;
b. Failure to pay the occupation fees, in violation of the pertinent provisions of Section 230 (b) of DENR Administrative Order (DAO) No. 2010-21; and
c. Failure to comply with all the reportorial requirements, in violation of the pertinent provisions of Sections 39 and 270 of DAO No. 2010-21.
Last June, the DENR also cancelled the MPSAs of Philippine Sunrise Marble, Inc. (MPSA No. 130-95-IV); Panapino Mining, Inc. (MPSA No. 062-97-VIII); and GML Corporation (MPSA No. 127-98-I ) due to similar grounds.
