In his message to the organizers and participants of the 65th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC), Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Director Wilfredo G. Moncano encouraged the industry to continue to be partners with the MGB in practicing responsible mining and to give benefits to the Filipino people.

“As we look forward to another year, let us linger to work together and be joint stewards of the country’s mineral wealth. Let us continue to be partners in promoting and imposing responsible mining and give its rightful benefits to the Filipino people,” Director Moncano said.

He wished that the event would also serve as another chance for the mining industry to regain the people’s trust and confidence so that the industry would be given the chance to further contribute to the country’s economy.

He also pushed for the industry to stay relevant and continue to create programs that would cater to the advancing need of the environment and communities.

“Let us stay relevant, let us change along with the times, and persist to create programs that cater to the advancing need of the mining industry, environment and communities,” he added.

Moncano also congratulated this year’s winners of the Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award (PMIEA) and PMIEA Selection Committee Achievement Award.

The 65th ANMSEC is an annual activity of the Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) to promote responsible mining and recognize the mining companies’ related efforts in mine rehabilitation and environmental protection. It was held at the CAP-John Hay Trade and Cultural Center, Baguio City from November 20-23, 2018.
